<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>107</id><JournalTitle>STUDY OF KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE & AWARENESS OF DOCTORS ABOUT PHARMACOVIGILANCE IN TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL, DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY, INDIRA GANDHI GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE, NAGPUR</JournalTitle><Abstract>To evaluate the current knowledge, attitude and awareness of pharmacovigilance among health care
professionals in a government medical college & tertiary care hospital in Maharashtra. The study was conducted in
department of pharmacology of govt. medical college and tertiary care hospital in Maharashtra. It was a cross
sectional study and sample size was 100. The study period was 1/08/2014 to 31/08/2014. A questionnaire containing 24
questions with 2-4 options were given. Residents and teaching staff member of govt. medical college & tertiary care
hospital were asked to tick one best & correct option. The completed questionnaire was analyzed & frequency is
expressed as percentage. Total 100 participants completely filled the questionnaire. 70% were medical residents & 30%
were medical teachers. 62% of medical professionals were aware of the concept of pharmacovigilance& 55.75% of
participants had knowledge & correct understanding regarding pharmacovigilance. 76% of participants were aware
of pharmacovigilance in identifying the safety of drugs. 71% of participants thought adverse drug reaction (ADR)
reporting is a professional obligation. Majority of participants had come across ADR previously & expressed need
to teach pharmacovigilance to health care professionals. 92% of participants think reporting of ADR is necessary.
Knowledge was not adequate about pharmacovigilance among medical professional but attitude was positive
regarding reporting of ADRs. Thus along with education of pharmacovigilance & constant efforts to report ADRs
