hypertension and both between and within countries. Newer studies indicate that Telmisartan is efficacious throughout 24
hours Blood pressure control and better tolerability. Hundred (100) Patients were screened by subjecting them to required
investigations before taking them into study. Safety profile was assessed by comparing the adverse effects in the patients of
both groups with a standard adverse check list prepared, based on previous literature, for the study. The tolerability of
antihypertensive was assessed by calculating the number of adverse effects experienced by the patients. In Enalapril group,
22(44%) patients showed adverse effects and 28(56%) patients did not show any adverse effects. In Telmisartan group, 4(8%)
patients showed adverse effects and 46(92%) patients did not show any adverse effects. The unique and novel
pharmacodynamic properties of Telmisartan make it asafer antihypertensive.
<Email> Sharanappa2011gowda@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Enalapril,Telmisartan,Tolerability,Safety</keyword><AUTHORS>Sharanappa,Y.Vishwanath,Shyamala G,Swathi Achary</AUTHORS><afflication>Resident, Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences, Karnataka, India, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, VIMS, Ballari, Karnataka, India.,Professor, Department of Medicine, VIMS, Ballari, Karnataka, India., Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, K.S Hegde Medical College Karnataka, India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
