and well known to lead to lethal complications if left untreated. The present study was prospective, randomized and an open
label study. The present study was conducted during the period from January 2013 to March 2014. Ethical permission from
Institutional ethics committee (IEC) of VIMS, Bellary was obtained before the start of study. Hundred (100) Patients were
screened by subjecting them to required investigations before taking them into study. Effect on lipid profile, Telmisartan
group showed decrease in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, TC/HDL at the end of 12 weeks compared to the baseline.
This decrease was statistically significant (P <0.05).Enalapril group showed mild decrease in total cholesterol, LDL at the end
of the study which was not statistically significant. Telmisartan decreases lipid profile indicators compared to Enalpril.
<Email>Sharanappa2011gowda@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Telmisartan,Enalpril, Lipid profile</keyword><AUTHORS>Sharanappa,Y.Vishwanath,Shyamala G,Swathi Acharya</AUTHORS><afflication>Resident, Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences, Karnataka, India,Professor, Department of Pharmacology, VIMS, Ballari, Karnataka, India., Professor, Department of Medicine, VIMS, Ballari, Karnataka, India,Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, K.S Hegde Medical College Karnataka, India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
