directly or cause immunopathology. In malaria, blood concentrations of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis
factor alpha (TNF-α) is increased. The present study was performed to estimate the relationship between (TNF-α)
plasmodium falciparm infection. It is a cross sectional study was carried out in Khartoum state /Sudan, a total of 70 febrile
patients and 20 healthy volunteers as controls were included in this study. Blood samples were collected from both patients
and control candidates in (EDTA) containers for parasitological and immunological tests. Immunochromatography test and
microscopic examination for both thick and thin blood films were used to detect the positive samles for plasmodium
falciparum . Enzyme linked Immunosorbant Assay (ELISA), was used for the determination of TNF-α levels. The result
showed that of TNF- α levels in malaria patients was 2874.0 and SD 1230.50 while the levels in healthy participants the level
was 2087.80 and SD was 939.7 the difference was found to be statistically significant (P= 0.004). The levels of cytokines
mentioned above were observed to be raised in malaria individual compared to healthy control candidates.
<Email>Ibrahim.eisa 1973@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Plasmodium,TNF- α levels</keyword><AUTHORS>Ibrahim M.E,Medani M.Eltayeb,Siddig B.M,Hamid soliman</AUTHORS><afflication>Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Elzaeim Alazhzri University, Sudan, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences, El-Neelain University, Sudan.,Academy of Health sciences, Medical Laboratories Program, Sudan.,Academy of Health sciences, Medical Laboratories Program, Sudan.</afflication></Article></Articles>
