Ethyl Cellulose, HPMC and Sodium Alginate in different ratios. Buccal tablets were evaluated by different methods for
parameters such as thickness, hardness, in-vitro drug release, ex-vivo drug permeation, etc. The tablets were evaluated for invitro release in pH 6.8 phosphate buffer for 12 hr. In order to determine the mode of release, the data was subjected to Zero
order, first order, Higuchi and Peppas diffusion model. Sodium Alginate showed maximum mucoadhesion and required
maximum force for detachment; the force required for detachment was directly proportional to its content. IR spectroscopic
studies indicated that there are no drug-excipient interactions. The prepared buccal tablets of ODH could stay in the buccal for
a longer period of time.
<Email>dratiqurrahman@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>4</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Mucoadhesive buccal tablet, Sodium Alginate,HPMC K4M,Chitosan,Mucoadhesive strength, exvivo drug permeation</keyword><AUTHORS>Syed Atiq-ur Rahman, Syed Arshaduddin Ahmed</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Pharmacology, Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, Telangana, India.,Department of Pharmacology, Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, Telangana, India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
