<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>150</id><JournalTitle>A SURVEY CONDUCTED IN DELHI TO STUDY THE PREVALENCE OF OBESITY, AGE, AND CONCOMITANT DISEASE IN DIABETIC PATIENTS, AND ALSO TO STUDY THE TREATMENT TRENDS</JournalTitle><Abstract>To study the relationship of obesity, age, and gender with diabetes, along with the treatment trends and concomitant
diseases associated. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among people (n= 300) of different age groups (>18 years)
belonging to different areas of Delhi. A questionnaire was prepared including variables/factors such as obesity, age, gender,
concomitant diseases, and medications for diabetes. Weight was measured with Nova Digital Thick Glass weighing machine
and height was measured with inch tape. The data was analysed and correlated with diabetes. Out of 300 subjects, maximum
percentage of obese females (55.9%) and males (34.6%) were in the age group of 40-59, with number of diabetic females
(56%) greater than number of diabetic males (44). Hypertension was the most prevalent concomitant disease along with
diabetes (40.33%). Metformin (63%) and Amlodipine (30%) were the most commonly prescribed anti-diabetic drug(63%),
anti-hypertensive drug respectively. 5.3% of the subjects also follow alternative system of medicine, and a small percentage
of the subjects (12.34%) received insulin. Prevalence of diabetes was found to be more among obese females than obese
males, predominantly in the age group of 40-59. Hypertension was the most prevalent concomitant-diseases along with
diabetes. Metformin and Amlodipine were the most commonly prescribed drugs for diabetes and hypertension, respectively.
A small percentage of the subjects followed alternative system of medicine like Ayurveda/Unani and received insulin as part
