significant immune reconstitution, and have resulted in a substantial and dramatic decrease in AIDS related opportunistic
infections and deaths in both adults and children. These medicines are often associated with adverse effects, with both short
and long-term treatment. OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to identify the type of adverse drug reactions in HIV
pediatric patients and to minimize drug related toxicities in pediatric patients. METHOD: The prospective study was carried
out in nodal ART centre of AP situated at Government hospital in Kurnool. The ADRs reported by physician were collected,
analyzed and causality assessment was done. RESULTS: In the present study, (10.8%) gastritis, 13.2%) rashes, (8.4%) loss
of appetite, (13.2%) giddiness, and (9.3%) facial discolouration were commonly reported ADRs. Out of 130 patients,
83(63.84%) patients of overall study population were treated with zidovudine based drug therapy, most of them having
cough 22(26.5%), fever 19(22.89%) and pain in legs16 (19.27%) are observed in our study subjects 102 (63.7%) ADRs were
possible by Naranjo causality assessment scale. CONCLUSION: Gastritis was the commonly reported ADR from ART. The
findings of this study suggest that there is a need of intensive monitoring for ADRs in ARTs centres of Assam. ZLN based
ART regimen is extremely safe, well tolerated, easy to see first line regimen in treating paediatric HIV patients (which is
seen mostly better encouraging) the better clinical outcome, in our study, mean while new generation of ART regimen.
Therefore, SLN produces severe toxicity of a rash, GI abnormalities, CNS toxicities (headache, insomnia) were observed in
patients. In future, health care professionals (doctors, nurses, & pharmacists) are three pillars in maintaining health of the
communities. Goals can be achieved by maintaining inter-disciplinary approach to provide a better health care for better
outcome.
<Email>sathishkumard11@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>7</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2017</year><keyword>ART,ADRs,Gastritis</keyword><AUTHORS>D.
