209ANTIPYRETIC ACTIVITY OF THE AQUEOUS LEAVES EXTRACT OF PSEUDOCEDRELA KOTSCHYI (Schweinf) IN WISTAR RATSThe current study was conducted to evaluate the antipyretic activity of an aqueous extract of the leaves of Pseudocedrela kotschyi in wistar rats. The antipyretic activity of Pseudocedrela kotschyi was evaluated by brewer's yeast-induced hyperthermia in rats. The antipyretic activity of aqueous extract of this plant was compared to Paracetamol (100 mg/kg body weight). Then, the phytochemical compounds were analysed by coloration and precipitations tests. A very marked antipyretic activity with a percentage of inhibition of hyperthermia of 150% was obtained with the extract at the concentration of 200 mg/kg. The antipyretic activity of this aqueous extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg is identical to that of paracetamol (100 mg/kg). Phytochemical characterization revealed the presence of sterols, polyphenols, flavonoids, catechin tannins and saponosides.
