chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol). The various root extracts of Decalepis hamiltonii were screened phytochemically for
the presence of secondary metabolites and for in vitro antibacterial activity respectively. Antibacterial activity of the various
extracts of D.hamiltonii was studied against microbial sample cultures of gram positive and negative coccus (streptococcus ,
staphylococcus, mono coccus, diplo coccus) and bacilli species by cup plate agar method. Streptomycin and tetracycline were
used as standard reference drugs. Among the all extracts the methanol and benzene extracts were found active against most of
the tested pathogenic bacteria
<Email>bio.poorna@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>3</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2013</year><keyword>Decalepis hamiltonii,Antibacterial activity</keyword><AUTHORS>Poorna chandar,Madhu Sudhan,Manikanta Kumar A,Manjunath Shetty K.S,C.
